Writing Goals: Exercises in Frustration?

I'm over at the Write in the Shadows blog today, talking about the thankless task of setting annual career goals as an author. While I did it, I'm not sure it was a worthy exercise because so many factors in the way an author's year unfolds are out of our control (when revision requests arrive and are due, whether or not a manuscript sells, when proofs and galleys wander in, the regular trials and tragedies of life, etc.).

I hope you'll go over and comment if you have a chance (link is above). In the meantime, I'll be back on this site tomorrow with a rundown of this week's releases in paranormal fiction, and another "Reader's Choice" giveaway. And, HINT: All the releases are YA this week, and one of them's the highly touted Across the Universe by Beth Revis. And you know you want in on winning that one!
