No, "Urban Fantasy Department 256" is where we take a book we're currently reading or recently finished--even if it isn't urban fantasy--and look on page 256 (if you're reading something shorter use page 56 or 156). Then share the fifth and sixth complete sentences. You can add a little context if you want.
Want to play? Post your sentences, and I'll enter you into a drawing for a wide-open Reader's Choice giveaway. Yep, anything you want. Read more below.
First, I finished two books this week, so I'll do two "Department 256" entries.
From Kim Harrison's Pale Demon, page 256. Rachel has run into some trouble and gone to the demon Algaliarept for a little set-to. He's just given her a spiffy new outfit to wear to her coven hearing:
A puff of burnt amber wafted up, and I winced. Whatever he had
given me was going to need to be dry cleaned.
From page 256 of Lydia Dare's It Happened One Bite, a cool new historical paranormal romance being released March 1 that I'll be featuring on the blog in early March with a giveaway. The heroine, a Scottish witch named Blaire, is speaking to Lord Kettering, a cursed vampire:
"Ye can take from me. Take whatever you need."
So, what are you reading? (See, this is a sneaky way to hear about some new books.) If your name is picked by our old pal random.org to win this international giveaway, you can literally pick out any book you want to win. My only stipulations: that it be less than US$15 and be available from either Amazon or Book Depository. As always, +1 for comment, +1 for blog follow, +1 for Twitter follow @Suzanne_Johnson, and +1 for Tweeting the contest. Share with me!
