Today, author Rachel Firasek introduces us to Fated, a new paranormal romance by Rebecca Zanetti. I’m looking forward to reading this one myself—I’ve read an awesome excerpt or two. But let’s hear what Rachel has to say about it, and then check the end of the post for the giveaway details!
ABOUT FATED: Scientist and single mother Cara Paulsen is used to fighting for what she wants and doing whatever it takes to protect her daughter, Janie. But 'whatever it takes' has never included a shotgun wedding to a dangerous-looking stranger. Vampire leader Talen says he's there to protect Cara and Janie. But his idea of a wedding night is more like a sexual taming—dominant and scorching hot. With shapeshifting allies, they must fight against an evil race of vampires that has discovered a way to venture into sunlight, in order to safeguard Janie...and the rest of humanity.
RACHEL SAYS: Very few books drag me in and hold my attention, but Fated wouldn’t let go. It sucked me into its powerful characters and twisting plot. I finished this book in two sittings, much to my husband’s chagrin, but I couldn’t stop. Zanetti created a heroine with just the right amount of femininity to make her believable, but strong. I love her empathic abilities and completely bought into Cara’s love for her child and family. Cara’s a soft heart, but a strong woman.
And then, there’s Talen. Wow! I love how Zanetti, gives us a hero with control issues, humor, and a protectiveness for his family. She blends those characteristics in to a 6-foot-plus frame of all hot male and makes it work. Warning: This is a seriously hot character. Oh, and he’s a vamp—makes it even better.
Her new and interesting take on the genetics of Vampirism is fresh. I love how she has sprinkled valid scientific reasoning into her ideas behind what a Vampire could be. There are of course the others—the baddies that will throw the kink in the plot. Every great story has a villain, and she’s given us some really twisted characters. Pure evil.
I whole-heartedly recommend this story to everyone! I’ve read it twice now, and may read it again soon!
Thanks, Rachel—and, okay, I like a hot vampire so this has moved up in my reading stack—LOL.
Now, a little about Rachel Firasek: Rachel’s writing career began at the impressionable age of twelve with a poem dedicated to the soldiers of Desert Storm. A dark, macabre affair that earned her a publication in an anthology and many raised eyebrows from family and friends, she hid her poetry and artistic style for years. Tucked away in the heart of Central Texas, with the loving support of her husband and three children, she dusted the cobwebs from her craft. Returning to those twisted regions of her mind, she creates dark urban fantasies and soul-searching paranormal romance. To learn where love twists the soul and lights the shadows, visit Rachel at http://www.rachelfirasek.com/ and be sure to check out her new paranormal romance (which I also can't wait to read), Piper's Fury.

Mick from Moonlight...
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower and I'm off to Tweet this contest!
Great post!
I have to agree that Mick from Moonlight was fantastical (I was really peeved when they cancelled that one) but I also have to say that Jean Claude from the Anita Blake series has made it to my top 10. I didn't like him at first but he grows on you.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the Undead/Betsy the Vampire Queen novels. Maryjanice Davidson is hilarious and Betsy's inner dialog is to die for. Plus the shoes! Lots of shoes.

LOVE this book. Don't enter me in the contest as I already have won a copy before. It's a great read, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteGood one, Kimberly. Love some BP any day!
ReplyDeleteLaura, I missed Moonlight, but Cayce, I'm with you, Jean Claude is yummy!
Ashley and Mariska, oh, two more I haven't found yet! Where have I been?
Colleen, I think that book/moview was the change in the trend.
Sandy, I don't know that one either. I need to be reading. Doh!
Lynn, we have some similar taste, girlie. Loved Fated.
Hi Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...my favorite vamp that isn't Eric? Guess I have to go with the classics then (old books, old movies, what's not to love?), Bella Lugosi is the original, but I think Gary Oldman was a great Vladd. Apparently I'm stuck on movies today and I will say I think the most under-rated vamp is Denis O'Hare, the actor who plays Russell Edgington on TB. He's given me many a good laugh carrying around his bottle of Talbot!
As to my buddy Rache's review: I've been hearing REALLY good things about Rebecca Zanetti, and not just from her, I wish her all the best. And Suzanne: get some rest girl! :)
Rachel: I can't believe you missed Moonlight! Cayce was right, he was fab! And you need to get caught up on Being Human, Aidan is quite the hottie too!

Well it was Anne Rice who first got me into reading about vampires ( as opposed to Hammer Films, who first got me watching vampire movies), so I would have to say Lestat from Interview with The Vampire.
