Happy Saturday! I'm writing this late on Friday night, after making up what seemed like a million "table favor" baskets for tomorrow's Reader's Luncheon in Birmingham, hosted by the Southern Magic chapter of the Romance Writers of America.
My urban fantasy has some "romantic elements" in it, but even though it's not a romance, the nice folks at Southern Magic let me hang out with them anyway. Some great authors will be there, like Lexi George, Jennifer Echols, JF Lewis and keynote speaker Victoria Dahl. I'll be hosting a table, and since Royal Street isn't out yet, I'm plying my tablemates with swag and outright bribes of Mardi Gras trinkets and such.
And...I have an extra basket for one of you! Just comment and say "Throw Me Something, Mister!" (It's what people supposedly yell at the riders on Mardi Gras floats to get beads, although in reality, the riders can't hear anything and you really do more standing, waving wildly, and jumping up and down. Sometimes funny masks work. Contrary to popular myth, women do not flash boobs for beads, except tourist chicks hanging out in the French Quarter where no self-respecting New Orleanian would be caught after dark on Mardi Gras.)
In the meantime, I won't be drawing for the weekly giveaways until Sunday NIGHT because I won't be home until then, so there's still time to scroll down and enter the weekly giveaways. Comment here if you want the swag basket, though. There might be magnets, posters, t-shirts...you just never know :-)
Throw Me Something, Mister! ;)

I don't know about the boob thing, Suzanne. I rode on a float one year with a group of firefighters (I was dating one of them at the time) and I saw more flashed boobs that day than any girl ever wants to see in her life. o.0 (Hmm, maybe that was because I was on a float with firefighters and not so much about traditions, lol.)
ReplyDeleteNot entering the contest, but hope you have fun at the conference!
Happy Weekend :) Throw something at me!

I miss Mardi Gras. I loved going as a kid. My parents would take us to 4th Street on the Westbank and we'd have a ball..
Thanks for the giveway.

The last time I went to a Mardi GRAS parade, my niece almost got knocked out by a tangled wad of beads. Those dudes on the floats throw hard.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great time!
