Kindle Giveaway Friday--What Are You Reading?

Today's the third day to be entered to win my gently used Kindle Wi-Fi (what's now being called the Kindle Keyboard, I think). Next Friday will be the last day to enter--a total of 28 entries per person possible--and then I'll draw the winner on Sunday, Dec. 11!

Earlier chances to enter are HERE and HERE.

So today, instead of me telling you about a book I think you'd like, let's talk about what we're reading!

After reading the first book in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series for the Preternatura Book Club--which you guys picked, smart cookies--I've been flying through the rest of the series. I'm on book five currently, This Side of the Grave, and am eyeing some of the spinoff books and novellas. That Bones is one sexy vampire!

I'm also finishing up Piper Maitland's Acquainted with the Night, sort of a Da Vinci Code with vampires. I'll be reviewing it over at Tor.com soon, and will be giving away a copy here.

And finally, in my mammoth online read of Stephen King's Dark Tower series over at tor.com, I'm just beginning book three, The Waste Lands. King's new book, 11/22/63, is sitting atop my toppling-over TBR pile and I have no idea when I'll get to it!

Next up for me: Marie Brennan's With Fate Conspire, which I'll be reviewing here with a giveaway, and in January we'll be doing a slow read of Patricia Briggs' first Mercy Thompson book, Moon Called. Hope you'll read with us!

Now, for the Kindle contest. Tell me what you're reading (and if you like it)...as always, four entries possible: +1 for commenting, +1 for being a blog follower (either new or longtime), +1 for being a Twitter follower @Suzanne_Johnson, and a fourth entry if you Tweet or RT the contest.

Now...what're you reading?

  1. I just started When She Woke by Hillary Jordan. I love dystopian and this one shows promise. My husband and I had an idea for a book using Lewis Grizzard's idea of color coding criminals with a dip, so of course this book's chroming jumped out at me.

I am a Twitter follower and am RTing, so wish me luck.

  2. I've just started on The Vampire, The Witch and The Werewolf: Chains of Silver by Louisa Bacio. I'm still at the beginning only, so I can't tell whether I like it or not. Haha. I've been wanting to read Jeaniene Frost's books, but there's so little time for so many books!! XP

  3. I already have a Kindle and only wanted to post what my #fridayreads currently is, so to speak.

I'm reading final book of the The Dark Tower series, by the same name. It's great and very sad. The Waste Lands was one of my faves though. I hope you're enjoying them as much as I am.

    Happy reading!

  4. I just finished Switched by Amanda Hocking and didn't really like it. I felt that the character development was lacking and the plot wasn't very original.

My next read is going to be a novella by Donna Ball - Christmas From Ladybug Farm. Since I've enjoyed all of the books in that series I expect to enjoy this one.

  5. See, I'm going to get some great new book recommendations this way!

@Sabrina...I have that book in my TBR pile, and it sounds really interesting. Love the idea of color-coding criminals too--sounds like a Lewis Grizzard column. Always loved him.

@CYP...Yes, too many books and too little time. The J. Frost series is really excellent, though. Fast reads too.

@Karen. Yay, another DT reader! There's a new one (#4.5) coming out in...I'm thinking April. Guess SK couldn't resist going back into it.

@Sandy...I've been waiting to read some reviews of Amanda Hocking's books after all the hoo-hah over the big contract. Wonder if they were published as-is or if they were subjected to some editing.

  6. I'm reading 11/22/63 (or whatever the date is) by Stephen King. I'm a little unsure what I think. I kind of like it but I've also read so many bad reviews I'm sort of waiting for it to bomb.

Also reading, or trying to, A Game of Thrones. I usually love this sort of book so I don't know why I'm having such a hard time getting into it.

I also have a couple of anthologies going. One about zombies and one steampunk.

I follow the blog and on Twitter so 3 altogether.
    Thanks!!

  20. I'm currently reading my own manuscript because I'm in the middle of editing ;) But as for commercial fiction, I'm getting ready to start the audio book of Stephen King's latest (11/22/63). I've heard very good things about it so far! Plus, being a history person, I love anything that has to do with the possible implications of changing historical events.

  21. This week I finished "Dead Iron" by Devon Monk (excellent!) & "Sins of the Angels" by Linda Poitevin (started slow, but I was PEEVED when it ended because I want Book 2 NOW).
Almost done reading "Power of Six" by Pittacus Lore.
Next up is "Street Game" by Christine Feehan (which I may end up throwing across the room due to my reaction to previous Game series books).
Must add the J. Frost books to my TBR pile. I continue to see good comments about them!

  22. Thanks for the giveaway! I am reading Stone Cold Seduction by Jess Macallan. I am really liking it! I recently finished Switched by Amanda Hocking and thought it was pretty good for a YA book. I disagree with Sandy. It's about trolls, how much more original can you get? +1 for comment +1 GFC follower brendem7@comcast.net
