From the ROYAL STREET Playlist--Ernie K-Doe (And Did You Win a Book This Week?)

 Happy Sunday!

Today, from my Royal Street playlist, I’d like to share a classic New Orleans song, Ernie K-Doe’s “Mother in Law”—love this old song! There’s a bar in New Orleans called Ernie K-Doe’s Mother in Law Lounge on Claiborne in the Treme neighborhood. Ernie opened it in 1994; he died in 2001. The lounge drowned under nine feet of water in Hurricane Katrina in 2005 but was reopened by Ernie’s widow in 2006.
