Today's featured book is LIGHTBRINGER, a YA paranormal
romance by K.D. McIntire,
and I'm giving away a copy, so read on...
One of the interesting YA paranormal books that's come into my TBR pile lately has been K.D. McEntire's Lightbringer. The story is a fantasy/romance set in a similar world to ours and featuring those who help the souls of the Lost--people who have died but have not moved on to whatever worlds await us.
This goes much deeper than the ghost story, although ghosts have made a comeback in the past couple of years. Have you read any ghost stories? There's a prominent ghost in Kim Harrison's Hollows series, and definitely in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. Jeri Smith-Ready's Shade series? What about ghostly romances? Well, JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series has a corporeal ghost (and I still maintain that Vishous got cheated). I think one of Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld (number five?) books has a ghost.
What ghostly books have you read and liked? Have you read any ghostly romances? If you'd like to try Lightbringer, just leave a comment!
ABOUT THE BOOK: The Never is a place of greys, a world a breath beyond our own, layered just past the memories of yesterday and the fleeting present moment. It is here, in this dismal limbo, that ghosts such as Piotr, Lily, and Elle must sort out an existence, both protecting the children called Lost and themselves from the walking darkness that is the army of rotting Walkers. Caught between her duty to her calling as the Lightbringer and her concern for her new ghostly friends, Wendy must walk the line between the two worlds, aiding Piotr in his fight against the Walkers as well as searching out the wandering soul of the one who means the most to her. Time, however, is running out and in the end... who will she choose? (November 2011, Pyr Books)
One ghostly commenter will receive a print copy of Lightbringer, by K.D. McEntire. You know the drill, kiddies: one entry for comment, a second for blog follow, third for Twitter follow @Suzanne_Johnson, and a fourth for a tweet or retweet.

I like Terri Reid's Mary O'Reilly paranormal mystery series. Mary can see ghosts and solves their murders so they can move on.

I really enjoyed Dark Needs at a Night's Edge by Kresley Cole. Neomi was the ghost and there was a vampire. I love that whole series by her though. Of course I love Kim's series the Hollows with her ghost in it as well. Thanks for the giveaway.

Kim Harrison's ghost = Gordian Pierce "Pierce" - The ghost of a witch who was buried alive in the 1800s and was brought out of purgatory by Rachel when she was eighteen in the anthology, Two Ghosts for Sister Rachel. Has haunted her for a year trying to get her attention. He is responsible for the 'glitches' and changed ringtones on Rachel's cell phone. Gains a body in White Witch, Black Curse through a deal with Al. This resulted in a familiar bond with the demon[Wikipedia]. Love the Hollows series.

Two of my fav. books featured ghosts. The Ghost Hunter by Lori Brighton, though the ghosts were secondary characters they really stole the show, and Stolen Dreams by Stacey Kennedy which is being re-released as Supernaturally Kissed and I absolutely loved that book

I don't remember reading anything recently that had ghosts in it. How sad would it be to love a ghost. What comes immediately to my mind is Patrick Swayze's Ghost!!

Jim Butcher has a wonderful ghostly sidekick for Harry Dresden, and also Kim Harrison's Madison Avery comes to mind. She is corporeal but still dead, so you get all the funny parts about pretending to eat food and to sleep :)
