I’m happy to welcome author Lynda K. Scott to
Preternatura today. She and author Linda Wisdom (another favorite here) have
come together to produce—get this—an INTERACTIVE paranormal romance! It’s so
clever, I can’t wait to get mine and try it out. Lynda is also giving away a
copy of her novel Heartstone…read on
to the end for the rules, which are a little different than my normal giveaway. You can find Lynda and her books online at her website.
Now…welcome, Lynda!
Give us the “elevator
pitch” for Great Escapes:
A pair of erotically inclined ghosts bring two strangers
together.
What was your
inspiration for the book?
I co-authored Great
Escapes with Linda Wisdom. For us, there was no real inspiration. It was
simply a way for two slightly insane writers to kick weird paranormal ideas
around. I think I suggested a story with ghosts and she suggested a B&B.
From there, we did a ‘round robin’ sort of process where Linda would write a
section, send it to me, and I’d write a section and send it back. Our ghosts
and the B&B just sort of fell in place wholly formed and ready to fly. I
love when that happens.
Favorite scene:
My favorite scene involves the hero, Clay, having
his first encounter with the erotically inclined resident female ghost. In the
shower. While he enjoys the encounter, when he gets out and reality rushes
back, he asks himself, “What just happened?” Then admits he knows what happened. It’s a subtle humor
but it makes me smile every time I see it.
What’s on your nightstand
or top of your TBR pile?
OMG, I have so much! I’ve got the Hunger Games series
on my Nook, The Wolf Who Loved Me by
Lydia Dare on my table and a stack of other paranormal/futuristic books in the
TBR pile.
Favorite book when
you were a child:
That’s a toss-up between The Black Stallion and Call
of The Wild. When I was a kid I had a thing about horses and wolves. Still
do, lol, which is why I read so many wolf shapeshifter stories and used one for
my novel, Heartstone.
Your five favorite
authors:
In Romance: Linnea Sinclair, Donna Grant, Lisa Renee
Jones, Deborah Cook, and, of course, Linda Wisdom. Other than Romance: Dean
Koontz, Naomi Novik, Isaac Asimov, Anne McCaffrey, Suzanne Collins
Book you've faked
reading:
Mmm, I don’t remember ever faking a read but I do
have a few that I’ve quit reading because I didn’t want to startle my family or
my alien kitten by flinging it against a wall.
Book you're an
evangelist for:
That changes often. Right now, I think The Hunger
Games is on top of my list.
Book that changed
your life:
Isaac Asimov’s The
Foundation and Empire. That book prompted my love of science fiction and
made me want to write.
Favorite line from a
book:
“I call myself the Mule—but not because of my strength—obviously—“
(The Foundation and Empire)
Book you most want to
read again for the first time:
LOL, that’s about a thousand books. I regularly
re-read my favorites. Several times.
Most horrifying
moment while reading a book:
Dean Koontz’s Intensity
is the most heart-pounding, nerve-tightening book I’ve read. It should come
with a Caution label. The most horrifying moment is when the heroine is about
to be caught by the serial killer.
What’s next?
Linda
and I are working on revisions for Great
Escapes – Summer Solstice (not sure if that title will stay) right now.
Plus, we’ll be writing a story for Great
Escapes – Veteran’s Day. As for myself, I’m working on a book two in my
Rider universe and an End-of-the-World book.
ABOUT: Great Escapes –
Valentine’s Day By Lynda K. Scott and Linda Wisdom
The
heartbroken and lovelorn come to Great Escapes B&B in search of a relaxing
getaway, only to embark on a weekend of sexual self-discovery, courtesy of the
inn's resident ghosts, who bring to life each guest's deepest desires. Just as
the ghosts transform to meet the needs of each guest, Great Escapes leverages
the Kindle platform to deliver what each reader wants. Do you like your erotica
steamy or romantic? Your hero to have blue or brown eyes? Anonymously fill out
your preferences, and we'll deliver the best version of hundreds of
combinations prepared by the authors. In Great
Escapes: Valentine's Day, Rose's best friend gives her a weekend stay,
where an invisible lover helps her to rediscover her sexuality. But will she
open her eyes enough to see who is right next door?
ABOUT: Heartstone. Eric d'Ebrur is out of time. He
must fine the legendary Heartstone and fulfill the ancient Gar'Ja bond he
shares with the Stonebearer. But when he finds her, he discovers that love can
be more dangerous than the Gawan threat. Eric can defeat the mind-controlling
Gawan but will it cost him the woman he loves? After terrifying episodes of
hypersensitivity, Keriam Norton thinks she's losing her mind. When handsome
shapeshifter Eric d'Ebrur saves her from the monstrous Gawan, she's sure of it.
But insane or not, she'll find the Heartstone and, if she's lucky, a love to
last a lifetime.
Want
to win a copy of Heartstone? (Sure
you do.) The contest is a little different this time, so read on for Lynda’s
entry rules:
Giveaway!
Lynda will be giving one signed copy of Heartstone
to one commenter who ALSO sends her an email ( Lynda@lyndakscott.com
) with Heartstone in the subject line
and their mailing address in the body. Please have the entries in her email box by Saturday, April 28. She will have her alien kitten, Wookie, select the
winner. Sorry—US only.

Wow, an interactive book! That sounds really awesome! Good luck with the new release!
ReplyDeleteNot entering the contest though I live in Holland.
Hi Aurian! The interactive book is really fun. You can choose how your hero looks, how he sounds, where he's from and you can dial up or down the sexy parts. GE-Valentine's Day was a hoot to write with Linda W.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suzanne, for having me here. If any of your readers are interested in my books, they're welcome to stop by www.lyndakscott.com to check them out. They can also enter my newsgroup for the latest news and contest offerings.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Oh, Lynda, loved the interview. You and I share a love of many of the same writers. I started my love affair with SciFi/Fantasy with both Asimov and McCaffrey. I own all but the last few of hers and many of Asimovs. There are others as well, but we can chat about them another time. I am enterig because I am dying for Heartstone!!!! And am glad for this opportunity, Thank you both!

I've GOT to read Great Escapes. I politely yawn with vampires, roll my eyes with werewolves, but I love me some ghosts...especially those who can still get their erotic grooves on. Sophia
ReplyDeleteHi Phyllis! Ooo, me too on the Asimov and McCaffrey books! It used to be that if I saw her name, I'd buy the book, lol. I had to stop that because I ended up with a couple of duplicates BUT I found worthy homes for them ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Sophia! I'm blogging on my site, www.star-crossedromance.blogspot.com on Monday and, with luck, I'll be offering a copy of Great Escapes. You're welcome to stop by and enter the drawing ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'll "see" you on Monday at your site! Thnaks for the heads up. Sophia
ReplyDeleteI've never read an interactive book before. Sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Phyllis! Wookie picked you as the winner of Heartstone. I'll get it in the mail next week.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for welcoming me here!
Great interview.
