Q&A With Elisabeth Naughton - W*n ENRAPTURED

EN: I don’t buy books based on the cover. I buy based on word of mouth, book blurb or favorite author.

Book that changed your life.
EN: Perfect by Judith McNaught

Favorite line from a book.
EN: I’m a sucker for a good sarcastic anti-hero, so basically anything that comes out of Tyrion Lannister’s mouth in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire & Ice series is a favorite.

Book you most want to read again for the first time.
EN: Perfect by Judith McNaught (I see a pattern here. LOL If you haven’t read this one…add it to your list, too.)

Most horrifying moment while reading a book.
EN: As a reader I was horrified and very disappointed in the end of Message in A Bottle when the hero went out in his boat in a hurricane and died. There was no reason for that ending except to close the book on a sad note. The hero was finally happy, and I felt it was done just to end a Nicholas Sparks book the way they all end – with one of the main characters dying. I’m okay with books ending unhappily if the author does it for a legitimate reason – for example, if the death of the main character creates needed growth in the other characters to complete their character arcs. This one wasn’t (in my opinion). I stopped reading Nicholas Sparks at that point.

Favorite book about books or writing.
EN: It’s not a book. It’s a DVD or workshop. Michael Hauge’s Story Mastery. I’ve read tons of books on writing. Nothing hit me like listening to Michael Hauge explain the hero’s journey within his Story Mastery workshop. Thousands of aha moments which changed my writing for the better.
