Quick commercial break...If you’re in and around Alabama this weekend, stop by and see me! I’ll be at the Barnes & Noble (at the Summit) in Birmingham Friday night 4/20 at 7 p.m., showing photos and reading corresponding scenes in the book. Find more on the event and location HERE.
And on Saturday, brave the rain and come to the Alabama Book Festival,
located in Old Town Montgomery. I’m reading at 10 a.m. at the church. The
festival is free, and you can find more about it HERE.
Now, today I'd like to welcome to the blog author Elisabeth Naughton,
whose newest book in her Eternal Guardians (i.e., hotness) series, Enraptured, came out a couple of weeks
ago. Want to win a copy? Sourcebooks is offering up TWO copies of this new
paranormal romance, so leave a comment to enter!
About Enraptured:
Orpheus—To most he's an enigma, a devil-may-care rogue who does
whatever he pleases whenever he wants. Now this loose cannon is part of the
Eternal Guardians—elite warriors assigned to protect the human realm—whether he
likes it or not. Orpheus has just one goal: to rescue his brother from the
Underworld. He's not expecting a woman to get in the way. Especially not a
Siren as gorgeous as Skyla. He has no idea she's an assassin sent by Zeus to
seduce, entrap, and ultimately destroy him. Yet Skyla herself might have the
most to lose. There's a reason Orpheus feels so familiar to her, a reason her
body seems to crave him. Perhaps he's not the man everyone thinks... The truth
could reveal a deadly secret as old as the Eternal Guardians themselves
Welcome, Elisabeth!
Give us the “elevator
pitch” for Enraptured.
EN: When a devil-may-care loose cannon finds himself part of the Eternal Guardians—the elite warriors assigned to protect the human realm—the only way to save his brother from the Underworld is to team up with the sexy assassin sent by Zeus to destroy him.

Most horrifying
moment while reading a book.
EN: As a reader I was horrified and very disappointed in the end of Message in A Bottle when the hero went out in his boat in a hurricane and died. There was no reason for that ending except to close the book on a sad note. The hero was finally happy, and I felt it was done just to end a Nicholas Sparks book the way they all end – with one of the main characters dying. I’m okay with books ending unhappily if the author does it for a legitimate reason – for example, if the death of the main character creates needed growth in the other characters to complete their character arcs. This one wasn’t (in my opinion). I stopped reading Nicholas Sparks at that point.

Hi Elisabeth! Love the series! I agree with most of your book comments and in particular, Jane Eyre (I promise that I won't tell). Loved the interview and thanks for the awesome giveaway! bpatrick64113@sbcglobal.net +1 Comment, +1 Follower
ReplyDeleteKilling off the main characters is why I NEVER read Nicholas Sparks. That drives me nuts! And I can't wait to read this book - falling for the sexy assassin sent to kill you sounds pretty cool to me!

I'm in agreement with you on buying books. Don't get me wrong, I love the covers but would never buy a book because of one. +1

Great interview! I've been following your blog tour so you'll see me popping up :-). Thanks for the heads up on Nicholas Sparks, now I know I won't try him out. I HAVE TO HAVE MY HEA. It just kills me when a book or movie ends like Message In A Bottle... I will buy a book because of the cover only if the blurb on the back intrigues me as well. That's how I stumbled onto Thea Harrison's Elder Series and Melissa Mayhue's Daughters of the Glen. The art will attract then the story has to intrugue :-) I found you by a trusted blogger/friend's recommendation.

The cover is certainly eye-catching but I never buy a book just on the cover.

I follow this series - love it! I also cannot stand when characters are killed off for no reason. As far as covers - I don't buy for them, but they certainly have been known to grab my attention to read the blurb on the back and buy!

I've read a series that ended with the hero dying (I was most upset with the author!) that I felt was a pure cop out on the author's part. Having him die was the easy way out of the situation she'd crafted.
ReplyDeleteI read an abridged version of Jane Eyre was I was a kid. Does that count? That's probably when I started having a penchant for the dark, tortured hero types!

I have bought a book based on a cover and was pleasantly surprised.
ReplyDeleteI hated that ending in Message In A Bottle too. There really was no need for it.
I can't wait to read Enraptured. It sounds amazing. Has a great cover, too. Thanks for the giveaway.
