Today,
I’m pleased to welcome debut author Roxanne Rhoads to Preternatura as part of
her virtual tour for Hex and the Single
Witch, the first in her Vehicle City Vampires series. Roxanne is a writer and
publicist (her Bewitching
Book Tours has handled the Susannah Sandlin tours and will be doing River
Road tour as well), as well as running the popular Fang-tastic Books blog.
You can learn more about Roxanne and her books at her blog, and on Facebook and Twitter.
Read
on for more info on the giveaway being offered as part of the tour!
ABOUT HEX AND THE SINGLE WITCH: Anwyn Rose is descended from a long line of powerful witches yet she can barely cast spells young witchlings have mastered. She has one functioning witch gift, the power of knowing, which she puts to good use as a Detective on Flint’s Preternatural Investigation Team. It’s a new era in Vehicle City, supernaturals are running the town. The P.I.T has their hands full with paranormal crimes. Top priority is a serial killer, who appears to be a vampire, draining young women in the city…Anwyn is on the case with her sexy partner Detective Mike Malone. Complicating things is her relationship with Galen, a vampire who looks more guilty than innocent, although Anwyn trusts her instincts even if her power is on the fritz….Mysterious spells, compromising situations, and a possible demon on the loose make it hard to focus on the case, but Anwyn has to make things right before the human police execute the wrong vampire…Hex and the Single Witch contains magick, a little bit of mystery, a lot of supernatural mayhem, and a sexy love triangle that will leave you wanting more.

Now,
let’s hear from Roxanne—welcome!
Describe your favorite
scene from the new book--and why is it your favorite?
Mike
Malone was never supposed to be Anwyn’s love interest yet he pushed his way
into the story as I wrote. Now he has become one of my favorite characters.
There are a couple scenes with Mike that stand out because they show his
sensitivity, his hero tendencies, and the man he really is under the hardass
cop façade. If I describe too much it’ll just give things away and I can’t do
that, now can I J ?
What was the hardest
scene to write?
The scene with Anwyn and Devlin and the demons. Some may think it
went too far. I tried to make it so it would push boundaries yet not leave
Anwyn feeling like a victim.
What’s on your
nightstand or top of your TBR pile?
Oh my…I have a huge stack. The top three waiting for me are Grave Memory by Kalayna Price, Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost, and Tempest’s Fury by Nicole Peeler.
Favorite book when you
were a child.
Favorite book when you
were a child.
I
discovered Interview with a Vampire when
I was 10 or 11 and that quickly became my favorite.
Book you've faked
reading (Moby Dick is leading the
votes on this question!):
Jane Eyre.
Book you've bought for
the cover:
Hmmm, many. I love book covers. I am a cover-loving junkie. Gorgeous
covers are crack for me. I was originally attracted to Jeaniene Frost’s Halfway
to the Grave because the cover stood out among all the others. And thanks
to that I found a series, and author, that quickly became one of my all-time
favorites.
Book that changed your
life:
Books in general changed my life. I’m not sure if I can pick one.
I was an only child and I didn’t live near other kids. So books were my friends
and companions.
Most horrifying moment
while reading a book:
Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires series, Hard Bitten ended with a shocking death. I wanted to throw the
book. Luckily she remedied this in the next book, which is fabulous because you
can do that with paranormal stories. LOL
Favorite book about
books or writing:
Fondling Your Muse is a humorous approach
to getting your ideas flowing. I can’t say it offers any astounding writing
advice but it sure does get your mind off things and open you up to
possibilities. It’s a great escape for writers stuck in a rut and who are
taking things too seriously.
Thanks,
Roxanne!
